How do you make a ginger shot?

What you need

  • A piece of fresh ginger root (about 100 grams)
  • 1 lemon
  • Water or fruit juice (optional)

Method

  1. Clean the ginger root; peeling the ginger is not necessary!
  2. Finely grate the ginger root.
  3. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and add it to the grated ginger.
  4. Strain the liquid to remove any pieces of ginger.
  5. Pour it into a bottle and keep it in the fridge.

Shake the bottle well before use; you can drink the ginger shot straight after making it. If you find the taste too strong, you can dilute it with a little water or fruit juice. Of course, you want to keep your ginger shot as pure as possible and limit your sugar intake. That is why we recommend using our concentrated ginger juice. It consists of pure ginger juice with a little lemon juice, without any added sugar or water, for example. Unlike other ginger drinks, which often add sugar or contain a little ginger with lots of apple juice.

Go Now ginger shot vs. ginger juice

With our pure ginger juice, you no longer need to press fresh ginger yourself; you can simply make your own warming ginger shot or zingy ginger tea. Without any additives such as sugar or water. If you find the taste of pure ginger juice too intense, you can always make your own mix with other fruit juices.

Besides our pure ginger juice, we also offer a mandarin ginger shot. This powerful shot is made of 20% ginger and 80% mandarin. This way you get the very best of the fruity taste of mandarin and the sharp taste of ginger. The answer for a healthy and quick ginger shot!

What does a ginger shot taste like?

A ginger shot is more than just a shot. Its unique flavour reflects the power of this wonder drink. It has a sharp, spicy taste that can take some getting used to at first. Because raw ginger has quite a strong taste, extra ingredients are often added to ginger shots to make them refreshing and tasty. Do try to avoid sugary fruit juices, though, to keep your ginger shot healthy!

How often should you take a ginger shot?

The number of ginger shots you take depends on your personal needs. In general, one ginger shot of about 30 millilitres a day is recommended; that is enough to experience the health benefits. Above all, it is important to listen to your body. So start with 1 shot a day, and if that makes you feel good, you can always take more.

Homemade turmeric ginger shot

Besides ginger shots, turmeric shots are also becoming more and more popular. Turmeric is likewise known for its many medicinal properties, including anti-inflammatory benefits. So why not combine these two powerful spices in one warming shot? Combine the pure turmeric and pure ginger juice and add a little lemon juice. Then stir a pinch of black pepper into the shot. This helps your body absorb the active compounds in turmeric more easily. You can also add other ingredients, such as cinnamon or cayenne pepper, for an extra kick. There are plenty of flavour combinations and recipes available on our website.

How do you store a ginger shot?

Ginger shots should be kept in the fridge to preserve their freshness and flavour. Once opened, our juices keep for about 3 weeks and must be stored in the fridge. Unopened, the juices keep for at least a year. If you want to keep your ginger shot for longer, you can pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze it. Whenever you fancy a shot, simply thaw an ice cube and drink it.

Where can you buy ginger shots?

You can buy ginger shots in the supermarket or at a specialist shop, or make them yourself. However, many supermarket ginger shots contain only a small amount of ginger and often have sugars and other additives mixed in. All our juices are free from added sugar and water. That way you can always count on a pure, organic ginger juice or an organic mandarin ginger shot.
